Active volcano in Antartica?

Considering volcanic eruptions, Antarctica is a very quiet place, but scientists have found out recently an area of volccanic ash and rock where, around 325 BC, a hidden and still active volcano erupted melting the ice above it for a distance of several yards.

The ash and other volcanic remnisents that was carried to the surrounding landscape by air seem to be hidden by the 23 centuries long snow above the spot. Although, it is out of sight, the layer had been detected by radars. Scientists assume that the heat from the volcano could still be melting the ice above it, which may be the cause of thinning and speeding up of Pine Island Glacier, as well as other glaciers in West Antarctica, which have also been thinning of late.

But most of the glaciologists believe that warmer ocean is the primary cause.
